Blizzard is changing PvP for World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

With the Warlords of Draenor expansion on the horizon, Blizzard is making changes to the current PvP system in World of Warcraft.

Details are currently available on Battle.net, as Blizzard plans to tweak how players earn during PvP in the upcoming expansion.

In Warlords players will no longer have PvP-specific stats. Instead, these will scale up to a higher item level when players enter a PvP area. All items will show their specific PvP level on its tooltips.

Likewise, bonus rewards will be vastly improved with players earning either a bronze, silver or gold strongbox depending on how well their team did in the match.

“If your faction captured at least one flag before the game ended, you’ll get the Bronze Strongbox. Capture a second, and you’ll earn both the Bronze and Silver. And if you capture all three, not only do you win the game, but you’ll also earn all three Strongboxes,” reads an explanation from Blizzard. “We’ll be restructuring the scoring of other Battlegrounds slightly (such as changing Arathi Basin to end at 1,500 points) so it’s easy to figure out what you need for each Strongbox.”

Unranked arenas will also include rewards, with Strongboxes offering anything from honor points to conquest points and gear, while three separate tiers will be introduced for PvP gear: a starter set, veteran’s gear and gladiator’s gear.

Warlords of Draenor will launch this fall. The expansion will take place in the home world of the orc and draenei races, Draenor, and feature a new level cap of 100, additional dungeons and raids, improved character models and animations and more.

The game is available to pre-order as a Standard Edition for $49.99 or as a Deluxe Digital Edition for $69.99. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive a mount, a pet and a character boost to level 90ahead of the expansion’s release. Players who wish to level boost additional characters can do so for $60 each.
