Video Game Crafts ‘N Gear #51: NES-Style Xbox One/PS4, Retro Projector Cake, TF2 Short

[Welcome again to Video Game Crafts ‘N Gear! This is a weekly feature wherein I shine the spotlight on three of the best custom-made, video game-inspired projects I’ve come across this week. Whatever the game and whether it’s art, crafts, toys, cosplay, animations or anything creative, if it’s awesome enough I’ll share with you wonderful readers!]

NES Xbox One

Enjoying your brand new, shiny, powerhouse next-gen console? Well too bad, because we’re turning it into one of the oldest consoles in existence. House of Grafix are selling the NES decals for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for $16.95 and $14.95 respectively. If you’re wondering why the former is slightly pricier, the Kinect gets the old-school treatment too! If you’re a retro fan as well as a lover of next-gen, these vinyl decals are fantastic.

Retro Projector Cake

“This is what happens when a bunch of nerds from a DJ company get an idea for a wedding cake!”–a direct quote from POSH DJs, the creators of this marvelous creation, which summaries this nicely. This cake is basically a 3D gaming monitor, with all kinds of classic games projected onto it. Uniting two lovers into official matrimony is nice and all, but I’m sure we can all agree that this here is undoubtedly the defining event of the couples’ big day.

TF2 Short

I miss the days of the endlessuploads of Team Fortress 2 fan videos. While I’m sure that train never quite stopped, it’s not rolling as fast as I recall a few years back when the Red and Blu teams were engaged in all forms of idiocy across thousands of YouTube videos. Thankfully, The Third Annual Saxxy Awards has brought that inspiration back, and have now announced the winners. And what winners they are.

Top honours went to YouTube user Brent Kennedy’s contribution, “Lil’ Guardian Pyro”. It charmingly depicts a day in the life of a Pyro plush amidst a usual war between the two teams. Full of action, humour, drama and unbelievable animation, this is essential viewing! Also check out the other winners below in the best Short, Action, Comedy and Drama categories.
