Video Game Crafts ‘N Gear #12: Nintendo Pancakes, Plants Vs. Zombies Shoes, 8-Bit Lane

In this week’s Video Game Crafts ‘N Gear, we cover food, footwear and 8-bit dog mess. So fill up on some delicious Nintendo character pancakes and strap on your Plants Vs. Zombies shoes, as we’re taking you to a real street that is stuck in the NES era!

Nintendo Pancakes

Nathan Shields is a man of many talents, being an illustrator and math teacher. Outside of his professions, he has another hobby that is both unusual and fascinating: pancake art!

Shields presented his love for Nintendo by creating six iconic Nintendo characters in pancake form: Mario, Princess Zelda, Kirby, Donkey Kong, Yoshi and Fox McCloud. You can catch more weird and wonderful batter-based treats over on his pancake blog, Saipan Cakes.

Plants Vs. Zombies Shoes

Deviantart user ~pixelputa hand-made these Plants Vs. Zombies kicks. The war between flowers and the undead ensues, with one shoe presenting the plants and the other the zombies.

All the most iconic types of both parties are covered and preseted in beautiful detail and vibrant colours.

8-Bit Lane

A London lane saw an incredible gaming make-over to promote the release of Wreck-It Ralph in the UK, with Aden Hynes Sculpture Studios handling the installation and replacing all remote objects with 3D, 8-bit models. The results are fantastic.

Sadly, the event has long since ended mid-January, but you can still enjoy the retro goodness from the videos and photos. Models include animals, trees, cars and clouds. Oh, and huge Tetris tetronimos!
