Warhammer MMO Announced

Big news for Warhammer fans as Behaviour Interactive have announced that they have begun development on a Warhammer 40K MMO.

Warhammer 40K: Eternal Crusade will be the first Warhammer MMORPG set in the 40,000 universe and it is currently being developed for the next generation of consoles: the Sony PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, as well as for PC. Developers Behaviour Interactive have said that they expect the game to be released towards the end of 2015.

Behaviour Interactive are an independent game company based in Canada that have titles including Naughty Bear, Mercenaries 2, Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon and Teen Titans. Eternal Crusade will follow the 2011 Warhammer 40K: Space Marine and utilise the same 3rd person fighting gameplay but also creating a (hopefully) huge MMORPG universe. This is Behaviour Interactive’s first involvement with the Warhammer franchise, as Relic Entertainment were the development team behind Space Marine.

From what we know the gameplay certainly sounds exciting, with the choice of 4 factions: Orks, Chaos, Eldar and Space Marines, and loads of available vehicles including battlewagons and rhinos to use to your advantage when fighting friends (or total strangers) for resources and land.

I’m sure Warhammer and MMORPG fans alike will be waiting in anticipation for the release of Eternal Crusade since THQ’s Warhammer MMO ‘Dark Millenium’ fell through last year when the company went bankrupt, stating that Dark Millenium would be transformed into a single-player game, but we are still waiting on any news on it. Perhaps Warhammer fans can let go of the frustration with THQ and look forward to a brighter, next-gen future for the game.
