The Shin Megami Tensei is bound to come back as a portable game, with the new entry of the series, Shin Megami Tensei IV getting released on 3DS this coming May. The game has been showed once again a few weeks ago and it looks incredibly promising and just as great as the other games released on home consoles.
Together with some gameplay improvements, mostly regarding the number of recruitable demons and a few new battle mechanics which are bound to make the game even harder than before, Atlus has revealed today that some gameplay mechanics taken from Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne will make a come back.
Players’ choices during the game will not only influence how the game will proceed but also the endings: as usual the karma system will have a bigger impact on the storyline and give the whole game a lot of replay value. Will you follow God’s law or will you value freedom and chaos over anything else? And just like in real life, there’s a whole world between the two extremes.
With so many gameplay elements, the game is looking to be really huge and even more promising than before: the portable format is really doing great for the series’ development.
Shin Megami Tensei IV will launch exclusively on 3DS in Japan: no news on a possible western release but the game will surely come over, given the popularity the series is enjoying as of late, mostly thanks to the Persona spin-offs
