Layoffs have hit TimeGate Studios, most recently known for being involved in the development of Aliens: Colonial Marines with Gearbox, according to Polygon.
“Today, we had to make the difficult decision to let go of some great game developers,” TimeGate president Adel Chaveleh told Polygon. “This is never easy, and we’re doing all we can to assist those developers affected. TimeGate is preparing, as is the entire industry, for the transition to next-generation consoles and new business models. As part of this reinvention, all projects and strategic initiatives continue to move forward at the studio.”
While no word has been given on the number of people affected, outside sources are claiming the number to be around 25, and also note that the layoffs are connected to a publishing deal that was terminated earlier this month. Formed in 1998, Texas-based developer TimeGate has also worked on Section 8 and F.E.A.R., as well as other various projects in the past.
