Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Won’t Have Multiplayer Naval Battles

Together with the official reveal trailer of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag also came a lot of information about the game’s setting and gameplay features: the new Assassin’s Creed main character is actually Connor’s Grandfather, creating a strong tie with the previous installment of the series.

As many speculated by seeing the whole pirate theme, the game will have a lot of new Naval features which will actually expand the features introduced in Assassin’s Creed 3, which were very well done: other than upgrading their ships, players will also have a say in crew management and recruiting which will in turn improve the ships’ performance.

With the all new emphasis on Naval gameplay, many thought that multiplayer Naval battles were a strong possibility. Ubisoft however has shut down these rumors through the words of lead content manager Carsten Myhill who stated that multiplayer news will be coming very soon but as of now there’s not going to be any naval multiplayer battle in the game: Ubisoft is currently focused on creating the whole open world setting and introducing such features would require additional work, which the developer can’t actually do right now.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will be released on October 29 on Ps3, Xbox 360, Pc, Wii U and next gen consoles.
