ZombiU received a lot of attention before it dropped and it seemed like the type of title that could help sell Nintendo’s new system. However, the most hyped game of the Wii U’s launch line-up has thus far received a lukewarm reception critically, but the reviews have slowly turned around for ZombiU with it’s Metacritic score hitting 76 which is considered good, but not great. It’s worst review came from large publication GameSpot and they claimed the combat system and environment was dull, giving the game a 45 on 100.
In an exclusive interview with NintendoLife.com, ZombiU producer Guillaume Brunier admitted that they were frustrated by some of the reviews they received during the game’s launch. However, the reviews have improved gradually, and he said that he and the rest of the team felt much more content because of it.
One of the predominant issues that critics had with the game was the lack of focus on the FPS part, but more on the survival and horror part. Brunier claims that they never hid from that fact and they believe that it was clear that the horror, survival part was the main focus of the game.
What are your opinions on ZombiU? Did you pick it up on its launch day and if you did, did you think it was worthy of the hype it received?
