In an interview with GameIndustry.biz, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said that he’d like it if the Nintendo Wii U was cheaper than it is. “I always prefer lower pricing, so I can’t say I’m happy,” Guillemot said. “I’m never happy when the machines are expensive. What we have to do there is remember that compared to an iPad, it’s cheap. With what it brings [to the gaming table] it’s cheap. But I hope they’ll be able to drop their price in time.”
The Wii U is currently priced at $349 for the Deluxe pack and $299 for the base package which includes a white console. The console is five days away from releasing in the United States and select gaming press members have already received their consoles and games. Ubisoft is among the biggest third party supporters for the new system, with launch titles such as Assassin’s Creed III, Just Dance 4, Your Shape: Fitness Evolved 2013, Rabbids Land, ZombiU and Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth.
