Welcome again to Video Game Crafts ‘N Gear! In our 5th episode, we have some truly unique art for you. Everything is pretty general gaming this week as opposed to a specific franchise, although Mega Man does feature in every single one of these. For someone whose games are constantly cancelled these days, the Blue Bomber sure gets around.
We all want to wear our favourite video game heroes sometimes. Shirts, hoodies, underwear… but what about shoes? Etsy user PrettySneaky knits gaming icons and places them over Converse Chuck Taylor sneakers, creating awesome new hand-made footwear. Now you can have Mario, Mega Man, Creeper and even a Final Fantasy Black Mage wrapped around your feet!
Stained Glass Windows
If you’re like me, when you think of stained glass windows, you then associate them with religion. After more than 16 years of devotion, I’d consider gaming to be my religion. Check out these holy portraits of Zelda, Paper Mario and Mega Man! The grood news is that, again, this is the work of another Etsy user, MartianGlassWorks, so these are all available tfor purchase. Understandably though, they don’t come cheap!
Yet again we have saved the best until last for you this week, so prepare to be truly blown away. These are huge and insanely detailed video game sculptures – made entirely out of sand! While you usually go to the beach to enjoy the fresh air and sunny rays, who said you can’t enjoy a little video game inspiration?
These aren’t simply sculptures of a single character, either. They’re entire worlds of the games they are inspired from, with Mario’s question mark blocks, Pac-Man’s maze, and 8-bit universes clashing together. There are no words to describe the genius behind these – you’ll have to see for yourself!
To check out last week’s featured Crafts ‘N Gear, here’s the link for #4: Angry Birds Soda, NES Controller Shop Sign, Retro Cloud Strife Cosplay. You can find all our back episodes here.
If you’ve seen or made anything cool that you’d like to see featured, leave us a comment or send me a tweet! You just might see your name credited next week.
