Shields a vault hunters best friend. So what do shields in Borderlands 2 do for you? think of it as a force field like the star trek enterprise but in a personal compact unit, the main thing to remember is that it helps you not die. Shields will take all sorts of damage for you that should literally kill you in normal situations. All manufacturers other then Jakobs provides their unique shield protection with slight variations between brands. Shields work by taking incoming damage in place of health damage until it gets shorted out at that point you are on your own and health will start decreasing as damage occurs. Shields do have a shield recovery rate so its not a one time use item, if your shields are low you can find a place to take cover while your shields re-generate.
Just like guns and almost every other item in Borderlands 2 some will give you immunity or some resistance to certain elemental damage some will even produce a damaging effect on nearby enemies. This is all done with the addition of Torgue and Maliwan parts so regardless of the manufactuer this option may be available.
Seriously if your reading this and don’t have borderlands 2 yet, you need to pick it up in time for the next weekend.
