In an interview with IGN’s Up At Noon, Gearbox President Randy Pitchford expressed his continued desire for Borderlands 2 to reach Vita audiences. Pitchford said he loved his Vita, and that is was a fantastic piece of hardware he would love for Borderlands to be available on.
Pitchford then continues on to express that they just don’t have the time or resources to make this happen, and that they need investors to realize this aspiration.
I think Sony should step up and make that happen. I don’t think it would cost a lot, relatively speaking, and I know there’s a lot of talented people who have learned how to use the Vita that could do a great job at that, and I just wanted to say if that machine started to align itself I wouldn’t be the hold up- I would actually be the enabler, but we don’t have time we just can’t afford it.
Afterwards he began to describe his perfect Vita-to-PS3 experience. Pitchford loves the idea of cloud saving from system to system and definitely wants it in his game.
Borderlands 2 will be released on September 18th in North America, which is very soon. It will retail for $59.99 on the PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and, possibly and hopefully in a promising future where Gearbox gets the financing and support it needs, the Vita.
