Dead Island: Riptide release date

Dead Island: Riptide release date

If you haven’t had enough of bashing hordes of zombies while exploring beautiful tropical islands you’ll be happy to know that Deep Silver has announced a release date for Dead Island: Riptide, sequel of 2011 Dead Island. And two special editions have been unveiled as well.

Altough developers at Techland have branded the new Dead Island entry as a spin-off, the game’s story will pick up right after Dead Island ending: the 4 survivors of the first game will find themselves trapped on the island of Palanai, in the Banoi archipelago, obviously overrun by zombies.
Gameplay wise there’s should be much difference from the first Dead Island: it’s gonna be an open world first person shooter with rpg elements and countless weapons.
A teaser trailer was posted on the Dead Island facebook page last September, a teaser that was very reminiscent of the first Dead Island teasers, depicting a desperate and emotional situation as zombies go on with their mindless rampage. And probably, as it was with Dead Island, this isn’t going to be the real focus of the game!

The first of the two special editions is gonna be the “Pre-Order” edition: the game will come with an exclusive pack of weapon mods.
The second special edition called “The Special Retailers” edition will only be available in selected retail partners and will feature an alternate character skin and an alternate box art as well. The standard box art for the consoles’ version can be seen below.

Dead Island: Riptide will hit shelves on April 23, 2013 simultaneously on Ps2, Xbox360 and Pc in North America, April 26 in the rest of the world. More infos and gameplay trailers are expected to come soon.
