If you’re one of those Walking Dead fans that don’t care much about the comic but love the TV series on AMC then you’re in luck, because unlike Telltale’s series of games Activision’s rendition of the Walking Dead will be based on that. And the game just got an official title: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.
The game will be set before the events of the series as brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon battle their way to Atlanta, Georgia, hoping to find safety. According to Activision Survival Instinct will be a “a do-whatever-you-need-to-survive first-person action game that brings the deep, character-driven world of AMC’s Emmy Award-winning TV series onto console gaming systems and the PC in a frightening, new way. The game puts players in the role of the mysterious, crossbow-wielding survivor Daryl Dixon, alongside his overbearing brother Merle, on a haunting, unforgiving quest across the Georgia countryside to reach the supposed safety of Atlanta.”
AMC also announced a new contest called The Walking Dead Dead Giveaway. During episodes of The Walking Dead fans will see clues revealed that they can later enter here. The weekly winners of this contest will get to have their photos take and made into a unique character in Survival Instinct that the players will have to track down. Each unique winner-based character will come with their own back story and death animation. Survival Instinct is in development by Terminal Reality(makes of Ghostbusters: The Video Game and Kinect Star Wars) and is expected to release in 2013 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
