A few days ago a teaser site for a new Square Enix game was up, with only the name Star Galaxy available: fans were speculating that the site could have been related to a new entry in the Star Ocean series. Unfortunately for the fans, that is not the case: today Square Enix unveiled the game which is totally unrelated to the Sci-Fi RPG series.
Star Galaxy is a massively multiplayer space simulation game, supporting over 2000 players at the same time. In the game players will take the role of the commander of an entire planet, managing resources, building infrastructures and buildings, discovering new power sources and so on. By invading other planets players will be able to increase their own resources. During the simulation and battle parts, played out with a card-based system, players will be helped by a navigator: being from Square Enix, there’s going to be some light RPG elements in improving the cards abilities and skills. Players will be able to choose from four different factions, each with their own backstory and specifics.
Star Galaxy is a browser game which will be handled by Yahoo Japan, with a closed beta beginning next week, on December 20. As of now there’s no news on a final release date or an English version. You can watch a trailer for the game below.
