One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 New Gameplay Video

After the quite mediocre Fist Of The North Star: Ken’s Rage, One Piece Pirate Warriors was almost a surprise: the gameplay formula was still close to the Dynasty Warriors hack and slash one, but it showed enough promise in trying to change things a bit: all characters had an unique moveset, stages had some small platforming sections with quick time events and boss battles required more than the usual button mashing strategy. Coupled with a really nice presentation, the game managed to do well, despite come criticism as some features are not well developed, but it was a start.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2 was just announced a few weeks ago and it’s already confirmed for a Western release on Summer 2013 on Ps3 and PsVita, featuring a Cross-Play option. The game will address some of the first game’s issues like the lack of some important story bits adding more game modes, characters and stages. The main single player campaign will follow the manga’s storyline faithfully up to the latest parts of the manga: old stages will also be revised and changed.

During last week’s Jump Festa, the game was available for play and thanks to the Chinese Game Over site, a 7 min long gameplay video has been uploaded to youtube: you can check it below and see for yourself, the game looks really good so far.

One Piece : Pirate Warriors 2 will be released this Summer in the west for Ps3. It’s still unknown if the PsVita version will make the jump as well, given the very low hardware sales for Sony’s latest handheld.
