Today’s Nintendo Direct has brought quite some news on the upcoming Nintendo Wii U console features available at launch. A game most new Wii U users will surely play is Nintendo Land, packed in all Premium Bundles of the console in Europe and North America.
Just like Wii Sports, Nintendo Land will showcase the new gameplay possibilities of the Wii U Gamepad. The game is set in a theme park atmosphere, featuring over 12 different minigames based on Nintendo franchises supporting up to five players, one using the Gamepad and four with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck combination defined by Nintendo “asymmetric gameplay” with players having a different gameplay experience depending on the used controller scheme.
The twelve minigames will be divided into three different categories: the first one will be called Team Attractions for 1-5 players featuring minigames themed on Metroid, The Legend of Zelda and Pikmin series.
The second category is Competetive Attractions for 2-5 with Super Mario Bros and Animal Crossing themes.
Solo Attractions are single players games featuring more fan favorites like Donkey Kong and the dinosaur Yoshi.
A new ad available below shows the Wii U Gamepad use on some minigames and how the asymmetric gameplay experience will unfold.
Nintendo Land will be available on Wii U launch day this coming November 18 in North America, November 30 in Europe and December 8 in Japan.
