Square-Enix promised that, from December onwards, we would be getting more details on Lightning new adventure but probably no one expected so much in such a short amount of time. In the latest issue of Famitsu, the magazine sheds some light on some of the game’s details: just like the trailer has shown, the game will break out of most of the features included in Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2, bringing a fresh experience to JRPG lovers
One of the most evident changes is in Light’s new armor, so different from the one in XIII-2: the new design was created by Tetsuya Nomura. It won’t be the only thing Lightning will wear: there will be many costumes and players will be able to change the colors as well.
Time is one of the central themes of the game: Light only has 13 days to save the world and she can increase the time at her disposal by doing certain in-game actions. Now it’s been revealed that time will always be flowing, except when checking the game’s menus: this will surely add a sense of urgency to the whole game. Time itself will have a greater impact on NPC as well since they’ll change what they say depending on the time.
The new battle system is currently called ATB Amazing: Lightning will be the only playable character and you’ll be able to customize her Style, registering weapons, armors and abilities, with players able to switch styles during combat: a new spin on the Paradigm Shift feature. Using items and equipment effectively will make players earn points, even though it’s still unknown how this will affect gameplay.
