This generation has seen a real high amount of HD remasters for a lot of fan favorite series. Square enix fans have also been vocal about the lack of HD remasters from the creators of Final Fantasy but up until some time ago, their demands were met with silence.
Completely unexpected was the announcement of a Kingdom Hearts HD remaster called Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix: the collection will include Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain Of Memories and all the cutscenes from the DS game Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days. All the games included will feature some touched up graphics, new characters and enemies models, all the cutscenes will now be in HD quality, and a slew of other features have been added.
Today Square Enix has finally announced the Japanese release date for the collection: Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix will hit Japanese stores on March 14 2013, exclusively on Ps3. No news for a western release date as for now but, given the franchise’s popularity and how all console releases have made the jump to the west, there wouldn’t be any reason for this to come, even as a digital only release. Square Enix also hinted in the past that a second HD collection could be coming if this one does well on the market: if you want to play the excellent Birth By Sleep in HD glory, you know what you have to do.
