Gangnam Style Sets World Record

Gangnam Style Sets World Record

If you’re on this website then you probably know what Gangnam Style is. If you don’t then leave. Just leave right now. This is no place for the likes of you. How did you manage to even go this long on the internet without knowing what it is? Well, allow me to educate you.

Gangnam Style is a Korean pop song that gained massive popularity due to its catchy beat and hilarious video and dance combination. It spread like wildfire over the internet, so quickly in fact it will be receiving a Guinness World Record certificate and place in the book. From the Guinness World Records Community Manager, Dan Barret, comes the quote,

Having been the ‘Have you seen this?!’ video of the last two months across the web, it’s great to be able to award a record for this tremendously popular video. In years past it was unthinkable that something would be viewed a hundred million times, and now “Gangnam Style” has achieved more than twice this figure in just three months on YouTube. PSY – your certificate is waiting here at our office, come pick it up any time!

It earned this honor by being the most ‘liked’ video in history. It was uploaded only two months ago but has already earned over 255,250,908 views and 2,541,385  likes. Those numbers just keep going up.  If you’re like me and were wondering what the colloquialism “Gangnam Style” refers to, it basically means the typical, luxurious lifestyle in Seol’s Gangnam district. Now, excuse me while I go off to dance like a drunk cowboy.
