Anime fans surely know what Hokuto no Ken means: ass kicking in a post apocalyptic world. The new game based on the manga and anime series Fist Of The North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 was announced some time ago and it will hit European console in the beginning of next year.
Developed by Koei, Ken’s Rage is a spin-off of the Dynasty Warriors series based on the famous japanese animation series: Tecmo has also released a Gundam and One Pieced themed project in the last few years.
The game plays like a Dynasty Warriors game: a third person hack and slash where players are required to defeat hordes of enemies before being able to reach the boss of each stage, a battle which usually requires more than simple button mashing. Gameplay is deeper than it may look like thanks to some degree of customization in fighting styles, equippable skills and combo possibilities.
Ken’s Rage 2 will expand on the original game with some new features: Legend mode will faithfully follow the full manga storyline and it will be accessible for both veterans and newcomers; over 20 playable character will be available with totaly different movesets; new moves will be added alongside a new Dream Mode which will close gaps in the main story and focus on some minor characters of the series; an online co-op and versus mode will also be present.
Fist Of The North Star: Ken’s Rage 2 will be available in Europe on February 1, 2013 for Ps3 and Xbox 360. No news for a North American release yet but, given that the last Dynasty Warriors spin-off, One Piece: Pirate Warriors, made it over, this one will probably come as well. No news on the Wii U version of the game.
