I was lucky enough to talk to briefly BioWare today on Twitter and asked them a couple questions about their plans for the Wii U. I didn’t expect them to respond but they did and I’m sharing the surprising answers. I apologize for the quality of the pictures but you’ll be able to see what I’m talking about.
Alright so I asked BioWare If the Omega DLC will be available on Wii U on the 27th or if it would be coming later on. BioWare responded with “Unfortunately it will not be available for the Wii U.” This is a strange comment because it means that players hoping to get the Omega DLC for Wii U won’t get it. It’s not that the DLC will be released at a later date but simply the DLC won’t be available. This kinda seems like a “middle finger” to Wii U players, because it makes it seem like they aren’t important. Brand new, extremely long DLC and it will not be available for the Wii U. This isn’t a negative for the actual game but it’s kinda dumb they decided to exclude Nintendo from the DLC.
Ok, so I asked BioWare if there were plans for Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 to be released for Wii U. Simply put, no. BioWare states “We don’t have anything to announce at this time.” While this doesn’t rule it out for the future, Wii U players won’t be able to enjoy the rest of the Mass Effect series. It seems extremely strange that BioWare would release the last story and not have plans for the rest of the series. There will be a comic to explain the story once you begin playing Mass Effect 3, but considering they just released the Mass Effect Trilogy on all platforms, it doesn’t seem hard to release it for Wii U.
The last question I had was about any DLC for Mass Effect 3 on Wii U. I asked if any of the DLC for Mass Effect 3 (multiplayer or single player) would be on Wii U. Turns out there is NOTHING available to Wii U users. Whatever is included on the game disc is all you get. BioWare did say “Never Say Never” which didn’t help answer the question.
