Final Fantasy XIV has officially been shut down: the game will soon relaunch as Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn. A new epic video has been releasing making the original Final Fantasy XIV really go away with a bang!
The transition between Final Fantasy IV and A Realm Reborn hasn’t been arbitrary in the game’s world: a storyline called “Seventh Umbral Era” started a couple weeks ago added in-lore explanations for the radical changes happening with A Realm Reborn with a meteor summoned to crash into the planet and changing it forever.
Together with the new storyline extra quests, equipment, activities and achivements were also added which probably won’t be obtainable once A Realm Reborn is launched.
The End of an Era trailer is six minutes long feautiring a large scale epic battle and the appearence of a Magitek tank: an ominous light appears in the skyes and rapidly advances on the planet marking the End of the old world of Final Fantasy XIV. Square-enix is definitely not holding back this time after having released an incomplete product two years ago.
Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is currently in closed alpha test fase: an official launch day has yet to be announced but it should be before the end of the year. A Ps3 version will finally be released some months after the game is fully launched on Pc.
