Super Mario Bros. Coming to 3DS

In a move that really does go without saying, Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed in a recent “Iwata Asks” segment that the Super Mario Bros. franchise will in fact be making an appearance on the 3DS.

Said Miyamoto, “In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS.”

The best part is that Destructoid’s Dale North reports that Miyamoto wants this to happen “as soon as possible.”

I’m just looking forward to seeing the crazy stuff Miyamoto will do with the 3D tech. Mario Galaxy was already pretty freakin 3D with all those spheres, so running around in a truly 3D environment in 3D could only double the fun. Or triple it… you get the point.
