People love movies. It’s a common fact. Quite frankly, I’m not the biggest movie buff, and I find that I watch movies very rarely. Still, I have to admit that when I checked out the presentation for Yoostar2, I was genuinely intrigued. What exactly is Yoostar2? Who is it for? What can gamers expect?
Well, Yoostar2 is essentially a movie karaoke game where gamers must play different roles from different movies. The title is set to work using Microsoft Kinect, PlayStation Move, and PlayStation Eye. Basically, these peripherals will track your position, and you must stand in a certain spot in a certain stance to replace the original actors and actresses from the different movies included in Yoostar2. These are real films such as The Godfather, Terminator, and The Hangover, so fans of film will definitely have something to look forward to.
Once the clip starts, it is up to the gamers to read the lines. Ratings will be given to each player based on their performance, and adlibbing can also grant creativity points or cost points depending on the level of awesomeness. Each clip will last anywhere between 20 seconds and one minute, and players can upload their content online to have it rated, rate others’ content, and even purchase some DLC.
Currently, Yoostar2 is 60% complete, with the developers still working on the game’s rough edges. And while there is no definite launch date yet, their goal is to have the game out by this holiday season. Yoostar2 is looking to attract movie lovers, much like Guitar Hero and Rock Band attracted music lovers. There’s definitely potential here, and if the development team churns out something that plays well, they will definitely garner a large fan base. This thing has “party game” written all over it!
