Good news and bad news: the bad is the recent announcement that the much anticipated Star Wars: The Old Republic won’t be jumping into the arms of anxious gamers everywhere until around Spring of 2011. So what’s the good news, you ask? This just means the game is going to be even better when it finally releases next year. Yeah, I know, I suck. When it comes to games I’m looking forward to I try to remember Blizzard’s approach, in that the game is done when it’s done. The longer it takes to finish, unless it’s in development hell like Duke Nukem Forever (RIP, you won’t be missed), the better it will be when we actually do get to play it.
Of course, just because the game isn’t coming out until next year doesn’t necessarily mean we won’t get to see what it’s all about. BioWare’s community manager Sean Dahlberg calmed our worries by saying “We’ve got a lot of exciting updates and reveals planned throughout 2010, including the first-ever hands-on testing for the game.” So it’s not all bad, I’m guessing we’ll have a handful of enticing trailers to help keep up our excitement for the game as well, though it’ll be hard to beat the first trailer for the game. Because I don’t want to end on a sad note, here’s the debut trailer for The Old Republic you’ve most likely seen but definitely warrants another view. Or six.
