THQ, the developer of the GTA-clone “Saints Row” franchise is looking to further strengthen their already popular franchise by developing downloadable (and now portable) games of some of their big titles. And just recently, THQ announced “Saints Row: Drive by”, for Xbox live arcade and the upcoming, revolutionary device known as the Nintendo 3DS. Both versions of the game will be available in 3D.
Because of the lack of mature rated games for Nintendo’s consoles, Nintendo felt it was a good idea to break that chain for their new portable device, and what’s a better way to break that chain then bring a franchise like “Saints Row” over to an M-rated deprived Nintendo audience.
The story of Saints Row: drive by will lead up to Saints Row 3, and will be connected to other Saints Row titles, meaning certain actions in one game, will reward you in another Saints Row game.
Do you think this new downloadable version of an already established IP will help or hinder THQ, and is Nintendo ready to break the chain of non M-rated games and venture into new territory? Any questions or concerns, email me at frizzthewizz@hotmail.com.
