Platinum Games to Reveal Something New, May be MadWorld 2

MadWorld didn’t do terribly well commercially but was praised for its unique visuals, sense of humor, and bloody fun combat.  Despite failing to get the attention of Wii owners it seems as if Platinum Games is considering developing a sequel.  I’m all for another MadWorld, but should this game see the light of day I beg Platinum Games to not keep it Wii exclusive.  There’s a ton of gamers on the PS3 and 360 that would love to play this game and the lackluster sales of the original prove the interest just isn’t there on the Wii.

Regardless of what platform the game is for, and that’s assuming it actually does happen, all they need to do is add some extra content like more execution moves, some sort of multiplayer feature, a longer campaign, and it’ll be a hit (at least on the PS3 and 360).  Platinum Games has proven itself as an extraordinarily talented developer, not surprising if you look at the team that includes the Devil May Cry and Resident Evil creators, since their two debut titles have shared two qualities: they’re fun and original.  Bayonetta also proved they’re a little sexist, but that’s beside the point.

On their website Platinum Games has a countdown, something Japanese developers seem to really enjoy, that is ticking down to the announcement of their next game.  If it’s not MadWorld 2, and it might not be, I’m really hoping they do a survival horror game.  With Shinji Mikami’s (Resident Evil creator) pedigree and the company’s flashy style and originality I have no doubt they would make an amazing horror experience.  I’d also take another Okami-style game, they can’t actually make an Okami sequel since Capcom owns the IP but another artsy, cute Zelda-esque game would be great.
