Modern Warfare 2 sports an impressive and vast arsenal of weaponry. You always want to be well equipped for your current situation, and to do that, you need to be informed. That’s where Gamer Syndrome comes in.
Where would a soldier be without his trusty assault rifle? In a crumpled heap on the ground, probably. Out of all of the weapons in the game, the assault rifle will probably be your best friend and the one you spend the most time with. They’re accurate and are ideal at a medium range, which is how you’ll approach most of the combat. Fortunately, they can still help at long and close ranges too, making them balanced, well-rounded weapons.
As far as attachments go, the Red Dot, Holographic, and MARS sights will help at medium range, while an ACOG scope is good for anything further. Additionally, with the grenade launcher attachment you can take on vehicles and the shotgun attachment really improves your close-quarters game. The rifle is pretty adaptable to any situation.
A step down from assault rifles, submachine guns are great at close-to-medium range combat. In close quarters, they’re incredibly accurate and their high rate of fire can shred targets quickly. With the proper sight attachment, they can be useful at medium range, but they’re not so great when it comes to long range.
When you’re in close-quarters combat, the shotgun is a lifesaver. It will decimate anything standing directly in front of you in one blast. When using the automatic shotguns, be careful not to expend the clip too fast and leave yourself open.
While shotguns are ineffective at longer ranges, they aren’t completely useless, so if you’re in a pinch, take the shot. Shotguns are also very good for taking down enemies with riot shields, which can be a serious nuisance if not properly equipped.
