New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Star Coin Locations World 5

New Super Mario Bros. Wii: Star Coin Locations World 5

We’ve successfully made it through half of the worlds while finding all of the Star Coins, but there is still an entire half of a game left and it only gets more difficult from here. I’m here to guide you through the fifth world and help you find those coveted Star Coins. So let’s get crackin’.

Note: I will be referring to some special moves of Mario in this guide, refer to this guide if you run across such a move.

World 5

Level 1

Star Coin #1

The first Star Coin is located towards the beginning of the level not too far after clearing the first set of gaps in the level. You will notice a small indention in the ground just before reaching an object that looks like a shell. You will need to perform a Ground-Pound on that indented section of ground and you will plow down through the ground and into the section hidden below.

Once in the hidden section just walk over to the shell to reveal the hidden coin.

Star Coin #2

The next Star Coin is located underneath the next shell that you come to, but you will need to jump down into the water and swim up underneath it to reach it. This is of course a simple process, but you will need to watch out for the enemies in the area.

Star Coin #3

The third Star Coin is a little tougher to get because it requires good timing and precise aim. This coin is located at the end of the level, and you will need to use the final vine to reach the hidden area. Swing on the vine and get it going to its full potential; then you will need to swing up into the shell above the pipe. Watch out for the Koopa floating up and down in front of the shell. Once inside of the shell, enter the pipe hidden within.

Now that you are inside with the Star Coin, simply swim over and grab the POW block and throw it down to kill the Piranha Plants and make the Star Coin fall to the ground.

Level 2

Star Coin #1

The first Star Coin can be grabbed by either having a Propeller Head or using one of the nearby Wigglers to launch yourself up to the coin. Be very careful because after you hit them once they turn red and move much quicker towards you, making it more difficult to jump off of the to get the coin if you missed it the first time.

Star Coin #2

The second coin is more difficult to get, and you need to make sure you have your timing down right and make sure you know how to Pounce-Bounce. In the picture above it shows a Big Wiggler in the purple goo beneath; this purple good is deadly and you will need to Pounce-Bounce off of the Big Wiggler to reach the coin. If you are standing on the blue platform then you will see that a lot of Big Wigglers come into that area at one time, so you have to jump on the right one at the right time. A Big Wiggler will come from the right first, jump on his back as soon as possible because one will be coming from up above soon after. Ride the Big Wiggler until it is right underneath the coin and then Pounce-Bounce up to grab the Star Coin.

Star Coin #3

Shortly after passing the checkpoint flag you will come to an area that looks like this, with a path of coins leading up to the section where Mario is standing in the picture above. A Big Wiggler will be making his way underneath the overhang almost as soon as you get to this section. Pounce-Bounce off of the Big Wiggler’s back to get onto the overhang. From here, walk to the right until you enter a new area.

Once inside just grab a Propeller Block and get the coin.

Level 3

Star Coin #1

In level three you will find many Bramballs that I personally find to be very annoying, but you will find them unfortunately blocking to path to every Star Coin in this level. For this Star Coin you will need to jump off of their heads to reach it. Bramballs flip over back-and-forth, and they give you a little bit of space to stand underneath them, so you will need to be patient at times because it’s easy to get hurt by these guys. Wait until the Bramball has just flipped over to jump on his head; if you wait to long then you may catch him flipping over, and you will get hurt.

Star Coin #2

Retrieving the second Star Coin requires you to grab the Koopa shell located just before the blocks shown above, and use that shell to throw it at those blocks to break them and allow you passage to where the coin is located.

Star Coin #3

This one is easier to get if you take out the Bramball that is hovering over the Star Coin. Once that is done you need to stand on the fall-away blocks and wait for them to fall down. As soon as you grab the coin Wall-Jump back up to the top to safety.

Level: Tower

Star Coin #1

It’s important to note that the spiked walls move back and forth on this level; so you will need to keep up with them throughout the level to make sure you don’t take any damage. The moving walls will hide the coins at times, but wait for them to move back the other way so you can grab them. The first coin is located a little ways up right before you reach the checkpoint flag. Getting this coin is as simple as standing on the blocks shown above and waiting for them to move over to the coin and jumping up to get it.

Star Coin #2

The second Star Coin is on the left side of the wall just before you get to the second spring board shown above. To get it, wait for the wall to move all the way to the right, and then back to the left and as soon as it begins to reveal the blue platforms on the left side of the wall quickly jump up them to grab the coin on the uppermost platform.

Star Coin #3

Just before you get to the big red doors that lead you to the boss, you will see the Star Coin looming in the right hand side of the screen. Getting this coin should be self explanatory, you will need to break the blocks beneath it to reach it, but the moving wall will provide a hindrance. Take your time breaking the blocks and then Wall-Jump up to grab it.

Level 4

Star Coin #1

This level reminds me of some sort of bombing attack because enemies will be constantly falling from above and occasionally landing on your head. Keep your eyes on all corners of the screen to avoid allowing this to happen too often. The first coin is in plain site and you will need to Pounce-Bounce off of a Koopa or Goomba to reach it.

Star Coin #2

The second Star Coin requires you to pick up a POW block located on a platform and to hold on to it until a more appropriate time. You will need to avoid all falling objects because one hit will cause you to drop the POW block and lose the Star Coin. When the moving platform get to the ? Block then you know it’s time to drop the POW block, so drop it and watch the coin fall to the ground.

Star Coin #3

At the end of the level just before you exit into the pipe you will see the Star Coin located underneath a breakable barrier. To break this barrier you will need to grab one of the Bob-ombs and throw it on top of the barrier and wait for it to explode. Once it explodes you can jump down and grab the coin.

Level: Ghost House

Star Coin #1

You can get to every coin by entering different doors located in the first room. The first coin is located behind the first door at the top. Just jump over the first gap and run all the way to the right and enter the first door.

Run all the way to the right of the room and run into the hidden section of the wall where the Star Coin is located.

Star Coin #2

Star Coin number two is located two levels down below the first door you entered. Rather than jumping across the gap, fall down into the gap and run across the floor where Mario is in the above picture. Then fall down into the next gap and run to the left until you come to a door, enter that door.

Run all the way to the right to find the Star Coin located to the right of the door above the water. Jump over to grab the coin and Wall-Jump off of the wall back onto the platform.

Star Coin #3

For the next coin you will need to do as you did for the second coin by falling into the first gap and run across the floor again, but this time don’t drop into the bottom gap, jump across it. Go up the small set of stairs and drop into the first gap you come to. When you’ve dropped down enter the door on the right.

You will find two places where a ring of ghosts are circling around a platform, the second platform you come to is where the Star Coin is located. Wait for a gap to appear in the ring of ghosts before you jump up to grab the coin.

Level 5

Star Coin #1

The first coin in level five is located towards the very beginning of the level. After you pas the ? Block you will need to jump up into the clouds. Grab the Propeller block and jump over to the coin using the block to keep you up in the air.

Star Coin #2

The second coin is very easy to get, just make sure you have a Propeller block or a Propeller Head and jump up to get it when you see it while watching out for Bullet Bills.

Star Coin #3

The third Star Coin is hidden away up in the air and you will need a POW block to reveal it. After getting the second coin you will come to three small platforms, drop down from the platform and use a Propeller Head or a Propeller Block to move away the clouds and reveal a Jumbo Ray carrying a POW Block. Grab the POW block and drop it in the area when the Jumbo Rays are underneath the place where the coins form a “W” in the air. The Star Coin should drop down right down on top of a Ray.

Level: Castle

Star Coin #1

Coin number one can be found in a pit of lava floating just above it dangerously towards the start of the level. To reach it you can either Wall-Slide down, grab it, and Wall-Jump back up or use a Propeller Head and jump down and spin back up as soon as you get it.

Star Coin #2

Star Coin number two is located just just above the wheel that is found right after you grab the first coin. Climb up the chain link wheel into the ceiling where you will see a hidden door, enter that door.

Once inside you will see this image above. Make your way down the platforms steering clear of the fireballs leaping from the lava. There is also a rising and falling platform that you can’t see in the above picture that is just below the coin. You can either use that platform to reach the coin or you can use a Propeller head to spin over towards it.

Coin Star #3

Just before reaching the final boss you will see a set of chain link fences rising and falling in an alternating pattern. You will also see the final Star Coin of World five. Jump over to the fence just below the coin and wait for it to rise up and then jump up to grab it.
