Incoming: LA Noire is go!

In the upcoming March 2010 version of Game Informer Magazine, Developer Team Bondi lifts the lid on its newest and potentially most exciting project to date. LA Noire is an open world action title set in 1943 Los Angeles. You’ll play as a world wary detective on a mission to clean up the streets – one Cole Phelps. If the thought of yet another open world action game makes you feel like the genres being done to death at the moment – heres the time to listen up and get excited…
LA Noire promises to be more than just your average action game. As Phelps, you will be in charge of the intricate detective work involved in cracking a range of cases, and your successes along the way will see you promoted to higher ranks in the force, in turn leading to harder cases. Detection can range from movement around a crime scene, noting details openly, to picking up a pair of glasses and noting etching across the inside of the frames. The detail involved here seems to be up there with the upcoming Heavy Rain, though at this stage to consider the two in anyway alike would be impossible. Got your attention now? Thought so…

But wait! There’s more! Where would any cop be without his right to interrogate suspects? Fortunately, LA Noire has this aspect of police work covered too. Team Bondi confidently believes that its new facial capture system will allow for photorealistic reactions from would-be killers upon questioning, allowing the player to gauge if they are being lied to or not. The lucky guys at Game Informer have had a chance to test the system, and they consider the system ‘picture perfect’ in its delivery, forcing players to carefully watch out for facial twitches, smiles, or eye movement to catch out guilty parties.
If this sneaky peak has whet your appetite, remember to check back for new information. As soon as we know it, you’ll know it.
LA Noire will be released for Playstation 3 and XBOX360 around September of this year.
