As a former art major and someone who has studied art for nearly a decade and been fascinated by it all his life, art-making is something that is very important to this games journalist. I haven’t been to an art museum in close to two years, and boy is it killing me. But I got the chance to check out an article on Joystiq today that calmed my art appetite.

Just last night, Into the Pixel—a video game-based art exhibit—was unveiled to the masses at GDC. Hosted by San Francisco’s Hotel des Arts, Into the Pixel features tons of artwork depicting various generations of gaming. It’s something pretty awe-inspiring, and each of the works is done in a unique style. From realism to expressionism to impressionism, these video game-themed masterpieces are very impressive to say the least.
