Platinum Games, the creative minds behind MadWorld and the more recent Bayonetta, have finally revealed their next title and it’s called Vanquish. Though no actual gameplay is shown in the video it looks interesting, if not a little uninspired. The most surprising thing for me is that this will be Platinum Games’ next title; after the bloody brawler MadWorld and sexxy spectacle fighter Bayonetta, this looks like just another shooter. Obviously it’s not fair to make judgements on a game since all we know is a fraction of the game’s story, and I’ll admit I was hoping the studio was going to dive into survival horror (Resident Evil’s creator, Shinji Mikami, co-founded the studio), but I’m sure whatever the game ends up becoming it will have their trademark humor and polished action.
The most interesting thing about this game is its story, which takes place in the real world (not some stylized fantasy world like the previous two games) so it’ll be interesting to see what a Japanese developer does with a western premise. At the very least I’m guessing the story will be a little easier to chew than Bayonetta. But enough chat, check out the trailer below:
