Arcarde Racer, Blur, looks to be out in stores sometime in the spring of 2010 for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Blur puts its players in real world cars and puts a twist on the game with it’s arcade handling and powerup system. Off the bat, Blur reminds me of some sick combination of Burnout, Need For Speed, and a small touch of Twisted Metal. Those happen to be three of my favorite racing franchises of all time – so surely Blur will offer some good entertainment. Blur offers four player offline splitscreen so you can race all of your friends at once. Alternatively, you can hop online with 20 other racers. I haven’t read anything about an online system similar to Burnout where you could initiate a challenge whenever you’d like while roaming the world, but there are numerous game modes and settings that can be tweaked prior to joining a game. If you’d like to turn off powerups for a hardscore sim style of race, it’s there. Matches can be set up to support teams, specific cars and tracks only as well. I haven’t had my arcade racing fix since Burnout originally released on the PS3, I think I may be getting mine from Blur now.
