It looks like the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator game will have a Survival Mode, a feature that’s been a ‘must have’ for almost every multiplayer game since Gears of War 2’s Horde Mode. Left 4 Dead has it, also called the Survival Mode, as does Army of Two: The 40th Day (Extraction Mode) and Halo 3: ODST (Firefight). While I’m not necessarily complaining, I do enjoy the feature in every game I’ve played it in, I’m just having trouble seeing the difference between each game’s take on the feature.
Since it’s proved popular, AvP’s Survival Mode, like every other, will let you and three friends team up as the soldiers as you fight against endless waves of aliens. Maybe they’ll even shake things up and throw a cloaked Predator into the mix every so often to shake things up, but the trailer only shows humans vs. aliens. Check out the video below:
So what about you? Is the same take on what could be called ‘cooperative arena gameplay’ getting a bit old or is it just me?

Actually, this mode makes way more sense for this title, then it did for Halo. And ever since I played a variant of it on Ghost Recon 2, I’ve been hooked.
