Purchase PS3 FFXIII And You May Get In FXIV Beta Test

That’s right folks, for you MMO fans out there you may want to look into buying Final Fantasy 13. Chances are if you plan on playing the Final Fantasy 14 MMO, you’re looking to at least try out Final Fantasy 13. According to the official Playstation blog, it appears the PS3 version of FFXIII will contain an exclusive code on a Square Enix members point card. This code allows players to receive a “secret” in-game item for Final Fantasy 14, along with the ability to be potentially picked for the beta that will be taking place on the PS3 console. As of now, we only have heard of ways to sign up for the PC version of FFXIV beta tests, now we know how Square Enix plans on getting it’s PS3 beta testers too.

This small incentive may be enough to sway even more sales towards the PS3 version, for those who are on the fence on which console to purchase it for. What does this all mean though? It means that the PS3 beta test will be much more of a random beta with testers that have solely been picked by chance, rather than the PC version who has testers being hand picked based on credentials. I’m a bit biased as to how I like my MMOs, which is on the PC, but this is good news to players who will be purchasing the MMORPG for the PS3. Considering the sheer number of eventual PS3 sales for Final Fantasy 13, and the key words “potentially picked” we wonder how many people Square Enix plans on allowing into it’s console beta test.

This announcement was originally thought to be exclusive to the United States, but it appears our friends over at Europe also have the same contest going on as reported by the EU blog as well. Sounds like we’re going to need some luck on our sides if we want to get in the console beta, especially with our European friends now in on the mix.
