Counter-Strike Player Plots Murder On Rival Gamer

Who hasn’t heard of Valve’s Counter-Strike? It’s undoubtedly one of the most popular games in the FPS genre and one of the most played games of all time. Even a decade later the game has hundreds of thousands hooked.

The game has seen the creation of many Internet phrases such as “1337″ (Leet) “Uber” “pwnage” etc. And now an attempted murderer?

A 20 year old male by the name of Julien Barreaux told French police that he wanted to see a rival gamer “wiped out” after his character was killed during an online game of “knives only” on Counter-Strike. Barreaux even explained details on the plot which was planned since November of 2009 and had taken him 7 months to think up.

The victim of this vicious crime, “Mikhael”, only lived several miles away from the house of the enraged Counter-Strike player.

According to the testimony provided by  French police officer, Barreaux knocked on “Mikhael” front door and when the victim answered, Barreaux stabbed him with a kitchen knife that he had taken from his own home several miles away into his chest, just missing his heart.

The officer stated that:

“Barreaux was arrested within the hour and told us he had wanted to see his rival wiped out for killing off his character.”

The judge of the case was reported saying this to Barreaux:

“You are a menace to society. I am frankly terrified of the disproportionate reaction you could have if someone looked at you the wrong way in the street.”

Julien Barreaux was sentenced to two years in prison for grievous bodily harm and was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluations and to attend anger management classes.

“Mikhael” survived the attack.
