Electronics company, Fujitsu, believes that Apple’s iPad may present a possible infringement of a trademark it has already registered.
Fujitsu created a handheld computer called the iPad — a retail stock device — back in 2002. The device came equipped with Bluetooth, VoIP support, a 3.5 inch colour touchscreen and an Intel chip.
Talking to CVG, Fujitsu issued the following:
“Fujitsu Frontech North America is aware of Apple’s iPad announcement and the possible infringement on our trademark, which has been in use in connection with Fujitsu mobile retailing computer products since 2002.
“We are currently discussing our options with our trademark counsel and have no further comment at this time.”
We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
