Announcing: The Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo’s brand new portable jewel, currently known as the 3DS, does something fairly simple – it allows 3D gameplay without any kind of 3D glasses, accessories, or anything like that. How? The current assumptions are that above either one of the console’s screens, there is a special filter like the one used in 3D glasses, turning the system into a full-fledged 3D gaming machine. Now, these are all just assumptions and not much is known about the actual console yet. But we do have some sort of demonstration(assuming, of course, that the video is real), which you can see below. The 3DS will first release in Japan, and will eventually be brought to America and Europe. The other thing that should be noted is that this is not the rumored DS2 that Nintendo should unveil at this year’s E3. Anyway, without further ado:

Now lets see if Nintendo can actually do anything cool with it. Beyond the awesomeness that is the system itself, I’d love to something cleaver done with it.

Although I am getting very irritated at all the people drawing comparisons to the Virtual Boy. I know it is a joke, but the two really are nothing alike. Its like comparing a new age concept car to a steam locomotive. They both move.
