World of Warcraft $5 This Weekend

Tis’ the season to play World of Warcraft! Blizzard thinks so, at least, and it seems that they haven’t gotten their hooks into enough unfortunate souls.

In honor of the game’s five year anniversary (it seems a lot older, doesn’t it?), Blizzard is offering the original World of Warcraft for a cheap five smackers. You can download it digitally or get a physical copy, as long you buy it through the Blizzard online store. The World of Warcraft Battle Chest, which comes with regular WoW and  the Burning Crusade expansion, as well as strategy guides for both games, is also on sale for $20.

The website actually reads “Gift World of Warcraft For Only $5,” because they naturally assume that if you’re coming to their site you already own the game, so the offer is intended to make for an easy gift. Well guess what, Blizzard?! You’ve already taken enough lives and I won’t be a part of it!

However, if you’re looking for a fun way to spend your time, $5 is just a quarter of the normal retail price. And if you refer a friend, the two of you get triple XP for a short time. That right there is an excellent reason to get started.

  1. The only way for this to happen would be NCSoft, Funcom, Mythic, Turbine and Sony Online to make monthly fees 3$. Then Blizzard just might consider it.
