Mythic Entertainment’s MMORPG, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is in the process of being ported to Intel based Macintosh systems. However Age of Reckoning will not be ported to PowerPC Mac systems. The beta is available now, players who already have an account can play the beta until it expires and a free ten day trial is available for those who do not have an account.

Now I am a Mac user and I hate cider ports, sadly this beta uses cider technology. Cider ports can be tricky to install unless you are well versed in computers. However once you go through all that work to install the game you get a pretty good beta.

At this point in time the game has a few bugs which mainly revolve around load times and game slowdown but I haven’t encountered anything that will hinder the overall quality of the game. Also Mythic hopes to have the Mac port released by fall 2009 so all in all the developers have ample time to fix the games bugs.

From what I played of the beta I am very impressed. It stays true to the PC version which is a solid title. Check out the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Mac trial on

  1. With Mac introducing more and more games on their system, I think Mac’s reputation will increase dramatically, and seeing as they have probably the best media available, if they continue to introduce more games, they might just have a shot against Windows, but Microsoft always have tricks up their sleeves when it comes to competition.

  2. I wish vendors would also port more games to Linux! I would prefer to use Linux full time but its just not possible because software and game vendors dont usually port their stuff to Linux… this is the same for the MAC hopefully the tides have changed!

  3. I second the need for more mac games. Unless the game was high profile, a port was usually unlikely. So I’m limited to Unreal Tournament and Civilization 4.
