If you’re a fan of rasslin’ games, then you probably know by now that TNA: Cross the Line is currently slated for a winter 2009 release. You’re also probably aware that the game will make its way to the DS and PSP handhelds but not to home consoles. So fans of last year’s TNA Impact who hoped to see a sequel on the Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation 3 won’t exactly be getting what they had hoped for.
While SouthPeak Games is currently working on Cross the Line, which they picked up after Midway went bankrupt, it appears that TNA is looking for a partner company to release games on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In an interview with Joystiq, a TNA representative stated that TNA liked working alongside SouthPeak, but that they hoped to address Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 TNA games somewhere along the line.
The TNA rep stated that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 titles are something that would depend on whether the company can find the right development team. So it appears that the next TNA game will really be exclusive to handhelds, but what kind of impact (no pun intended) will such a decision have on the series’ future?
