Racquet Sports Makes Use of Wii Peripherals

Ubisoft must have taken notice of all those racquet-shaped peripherals that have been released for the Wii.  If you’re one of the few who has purchased said accessories, then you won’t have to watch them collecting dust for much longer because Ubisoft will be releasing Racquet Sports in March 2010.

Designed to take advantage of all those racquet add-ons as well as Wii MotionPlus, Racquet Sports will feature tennis, beach tennis (Hmm…), badminton, squash, and ping pong.  The game will feature both single-player and multiplayer modes, but nothing has been said yet in terms of online play.  (Given the Wii’s track record for these types of games, however, we can almost rule that one out.).

Beach tennis. It's like regular tennis, but at the beach!

In an attempt to make use of even more accessories, Racquet Sports will also feature Your Shape camera functionality.  The camera peripheral designed for Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy, another in a long line of Wii fitness games, will have some sort of compatibility with Racquet Sports, though nothing has been specified.

Just what can we expect out of Racquet Sports?  Will Ubisoft deliver a title good enough to rival the success of Wii Sports Resort?  How will the Your Shape camera function with the game?  We’ll have to wait until March of next year to see.

  1. I’m a pretty accomplished ping pong player in real life and so far, I’m less than impressed with any ping pong games on the Wii. I may have to see if I know anyone who buys this so I can give it a try before forking out the money for it. Everything else I can deal with. But bad ping pong response, no way.
