Today Konami announced that Pop’n Music is now available on the Wii. The Pop’n Music franchise has been highly popular in Japan for around 10 years and this is the first time the game will be playable in the United States.
The game is than than just a rhythm game. Pop’n Music combines timing, coordination, and strategy to the sound of some of today’s popular artists like Jackson 5, Kelly Clarkson, Motorhead, and Franz Ferdinand. Utilizing the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, players take control of their choice of 14 different characters and begin their rhythm quest through 6 unique stages, while keeping the beat of music as they hit the colored buttons,. But it’s not that easy. Players will need to watch out for when the difficulty level will increase. The key to getting through songs is to manage timing and speed. Pop’n Music fans are very passionate about content, so in addition to the 40 songs that will be available on the disc at launch, Konami will also add additional songs through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to keep fans moving to the beat.

I completely forgot about this game until I saw this article! I’ve been wanting to play a pop’n music game since I saw a video of it a few years back. I’ve got to remember to pick this up the next time I go to the store.
