Australian fan rejoice! Oh, wait… I mean bad news… Don’t rejoice. The Australian Classification Review Board (consisting of 3 people) have today announced that they have not changed their minds on the RC, or Refused Classification. This decision is said to be the “final decision”.
The game will be released in Australia, however there will be an enormous amount of content and features missing from the game.
The official statement:
“A three-member panel of the Classification Review Board (the Review Board) has unanimously determined that the computer game “Left 4 Dead 2? is classified RC (Refused Classification).
In the Review Board’s opinion, “Left 4 Dead 2? could not be accommodated within the MA 15+ classification. The computer game contains a level of violence which is high in impact, prolonged, repeated frequently and realistic within the context of the game.
In addition, it was the Review Board’s opinion that there was insufficient delineation between the depiction of general zombie figures and the human figures, as opposed to the clearly fictional ‘infected’ characters. This was a major consideration of the Review Board in determining the impact of this game on minors.”
It doesn’t sound like any changes will be made. This is a huge disappointment for any fan of Left 4 Dead in Australia, and I can’t even imagine what the game is going to look like with all said features absent from the game.

to bad for Australians … with the content they are taking out of the game why bother playing it?
They’ll just end up torrenting it or importing it. These people need to grow up, last I heard, 18 year olds are adults, and an adult has unquestioned say as to what they’re exposed to.
Nanny state, much?
Actually, I’m on the board’s side. I’m sorry folks but I think there is way too much violence in games these days, and I do not think it’s healthy. That’s just how I feel about it, so whether here or in Australia, I applaud regulators for standing their ground.
go figure another violent game Orrymain doesnt like…….
1. Thank God I don’t live in Australia.
2. Left 4 Dead 2 is awesome and can’t be censored. That’s like giving someone a porn magazine with all the pages ripped out.
3. Violent video games = awesome for a lot of people. Not everyone wants to play Mario or LittleBigPlanet. Soemtimes, people just want to come home and blow someone’s head and see every little chunk fall onto the ground and with violent video games, people can do that instead of trying it on their neighbor.
