Tons of potential hits missed: Risen, Divinity 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Call Of Pripyat, Torchlight, Tera, Heroes Of Newerth/League Of Legends, Singularity, Tales Of Monkey Island(The next chapters) and that’s not even the half of it..
Risen, Touchlight, Tera, and Divinity aren’t hugely anticipated titles. They’re a small portion of the literally thousands of PC titles that come out a year.
I guess you missed my ‘only includes games with solid release dates’ part, Stalker doesn’t have one, neither does Heroes. Singularity isn’t even coming out this year.
Lol, just because you haven’t heard of them doesn’t mean they don’t have a huge fanbase. Risen is the sequel to Gothic – millions of RPG fans are waiting for it, even those who have never heard of Gothic. Torchlight is from the authors of Diablo. Need i say more? Tera is from the authors of Lineage.. moving on. Divinity 2 is already released in german and has a huge fanbase. The game is a sequel to Beyond Divinity and Divine Divinity – huge fanbase. Stalker has a release date, you just haven’t seen it. The russian version is a few days away. Heroes Of Newerth has nothing to do with Heroes Of Might and Magic if that’s what you mean. The game is already nearly released and it’s in Beta testing. Same goes for League Of Legends. You mentioned above that some games you listed are coming out Q1 2010 – The english version of Stalker is. And so is Singularity.
Never said they didn’t have a large fanbase. I said ‘big name titles’ which is a subjective term. If Divinity is already released then no shit it’s not on my list of ‘UPCOMING’ games. That seemed pretty obvious but here I am spelling it out. STALKER doesn’t have a release date, unless you have a valid source you’re argument is empty, as Q4 is not a solid date.
“You mentioned above that some games you listed are coming out Q1 2010″-joar
No, I didn’t. Re-read what I said…
“Don’t forget the great many number releasing Q1 next year either.”
Practice reading comprehension.
So yeah, you basically said that the list is only games you like. Nice. Please, define ‘big name titles’, since a lot of the games i mentioned are more popular than Borderlands, for example. You should have said – “if you’re a fucking noob who doesn’t know what to play, than my list is perfect for you. I’ve made a massive selection of games, that i think are perfect, even though they are most likely just more of the same. Who wants original games anyway?” And i’m serious about that. Zelda, the GTA expansion, Spore Hero? You should’ve warned us that you included sequels only.. Marry Christmas, mindless gamers..
Considering I already preordered my copy of Zelda ST, I’m definitely going to tell people not to get me that. I’ll likely be playing that game as I await Christmas and my birthday, which is December 23 (and luckily, I don’t get screwed out of presents because of that).
@joar, not at all. Not anymore so then, say, a Best Buy holiday buying guide. I looked at lists of upcoming games on many different sites and through my own rhetoric, picked apart the ones I felt, the most people would want to look out for. PC games are a fickle thing in that, they’re known for having a much more diverse array of games then that of consoles. Since developers don’t have to build their game to work around a specific console’s mold. My post wasn’t meant to be a sort of ‘if I didn’t list your game it’s crap’. Take Risen for example, how many casual or less-then hardcore gamers do you think are going to buy it? I’d wager that number doesn’t hold a candle to something like Spore Hero or Brutal Legend. The people who are planning to purchase Risen probably already have it’s release marked on their calenders. Same thing with Torchlight and Tera, both hardcore RPGSs and MMORPGs. Personally, I have trouble remembering what games I was looking forward to if too many are coming out at a time, so I figured other people must have this problem too. Also Borderlands’ popularity can’t be judged by anything but hype right now since it’s an IP, but it’s gaming public knowledge it’s very anticipated.
@David, having a birthday around a holiday must suck -_-
Well, all i’m saying is that it wouldn’t hurt to include those games. Hardcore gamers are people too, not to mention most people on this site are beyond casual.. I never said the games you listed are bad. All i’m saying is, that those games deserve to be on that list as much as all the others do.
Maybe it would have been better to try and do a list of all that is due out, or make it a two or three part list. I don’t know, but I found it sparse, too, though I did clearly see your disclaimed, Jay, about big name titles and such. Right now I’m not sure big name titles are what I’m looking for. Maybe that’s part of the other response, too.
While I appreciate your take. 15+ big budget titles is hardly sparse during a single time.
