Hasta la vista, Pandemic

Pandemic Studios, one of the most productive video game developers of the last few years will officially be closed and it’s 200 people staff will be fired. The rest of the people at the studio will continue their work in EA LA. According to official information, the reasons for closing the studio were restructuring and giving way to a more flexible model of development. Thankfully, Electronic Arts promise the existing games of the studio will not be affected. On the contrary – they will be continued. The curios thing is that, just as the news spread, Gearbox Software have offered ex-Pandemic staff members a place in their studio. Looks like their talent won’t go unnoticed.

Pandemic’s most popular games include Star Wars: Battlefront, Mercenaries, ┬áThe Saboteur, Lord Of The Rings: Conquest and Full Spectrum Warrior. The fate of their latest announced game, The Saboteur, is still unknown.

  1. Well, at least the good part is that it sounds like the development staff will land on their feet with jobs at Gearbox Software. It’s also nice that Electronic Arts will not let existing games be affected by the restructuring.
