Dead Space 2 was officially announced earlier today, even though we (and by “we”, I mean all of the internet) were already fully aware that it was coming. Now it looks like the anticipated survival-horror sequel might feature online multiplayer.
According to Industry Gamers, a job posting on LinkedIn was looking for a “Senior Online Level Designer” for the franchise. The job responsibilities were:
* Conceptualize, script, direct, and build online levels for the game.
* Own the level design for the online game, be able to work collaboratively with Creative Director and Online Producer to create extremely fun, satisfying and polished multiplayer levels.
* Drive online design by taking the initiative to bring all parties together to execute on the overall vision for the levels.
Considering with the recent news that the new Tomb Raider game may also have multiplayer, it looks as if that’s just a necessary feature nowadays.
I’m actually excited about this. There are certain games I play for the single player experience, and in those games I usually don’t care for multiplayer, but the mechanics in Dead Space are fun enough that it may be an absolute blast. As long as I can saw players in half, I say bring it on.

Do shooting games these days even exist without multi-player, seems pretty lame…
