Sims 3 World Adventures: Checking China

EA have released new media which shows the China location for their forthcoming expansion pack Sims 3 World Adventures. The China location, known as Shang Simla, has been kept under wraps until now. It is the 2nd of three worlds to be revealed to the public via the means of a few screenshots and a trailer. In this article, we will be going through what is displayed through the newly released screenshots.

In comparison to Egypt, the China location is much greener. A giant stone head, which appears to be the face of a dragon, sits amongst a forest of trees. A pathway leads up to the dragon’s mouth, which appears to be an entrance. Perhaps the entrance will take Sims to tomb like interiors similar to the ones they will find in the Egypt location. There is a further screenshot which seems to show such a location decorated with what appears to be Chinese statues.

Another screenshot, the one I have included with this article in fact, shows what appears to be the animation we see when our Sim or Sims train to improve their Martial Arts skill. It is interesting to learn our Sims are able to learn more and more skills, yet at the same time each skill appears secondary to those which appeared in Sims 1 and 2. For example, the creativity skill appears to have already fragmented into painting, writing and guitar (which seems strangely specific; why not piano or triangle?). And what of the athletic skill, which replaces the body skill in Sims 3? How, aside from surviving a battle with a mummy, does this differentiate with the Martial Arts skill?

The last of the newly released screenshots appears to show a firework display over a residential area. I don’t think we’ve ever been able to view fireworks in the sky quite like this before. This time, you can actually see the end result with the night sky as a background.

What is my verdict of the China location at this early stage? It looks good but I’m skeptical. Though China appears to be a polar opposite to Egypt, will it play any different? The answer to that question is unclear at this time.

  1. Cool cant wait for this pack, My guess is there will be some really generic differences (maybe karate in China and herding camels in India? haha..j/k) between the country game play and obvious art work will be different, housing etc… I think its extremely hard for them to make these worlds and skills etc.. especially when they have a lot of other games in production.. so my guess is the same as yours that it will be the same type of play regardless of country.

  2. I still think it will be a good addition. They are all different to some extent. This China version gives things a little different perspective. I think it could be an exciting game.
