Bonk: Brink of Extinction announced

Hudson has announced that Bonk: Brink of Extinction will be available for download in Spring 2010 on the Playstation Network, Xbox LIVE Arcade, and WiiWare.

In the newest addition to this classic platformer series the world faces a doomsday comet and it is up to Bonk, the head-butting caveman, to travel to the center of the Earth in order to save the world.

The story mode in Bonk: Brink of Extinction will support both single and cooperative play.  It will also bring back the same familiar features that made it a classic; including power-ups and transformations, which Bonk will now be able to achieve eight different forms by eating meat or encountering Primordial Jelly.

Hudson also confirmed that the game will feature online play for the first time in the series.  Also never before seen in the Bonk series will be several new, dynamic enemies with “incredible variations in personalities and abilities”, a 3D world and collectibles.

There has been no word from Hudson on whether Bonk: Brink of Extinction will support Trophies and Achievements.

  1. Holy crap they are making bonk again? @Harry this was made popular by the TurboGrafx-16 back in the early 90’s .. unfortunatly the TurboGrafx-16 died off in a few years due to very bad sales, I believe Bonk was then ported to NES, Gameboy and sold there. oh and aparently they made a bonk in 2007 iv never heard of as well.

  2. I believe the 2007 release was a mobile release. It has been about 15 years since Bonk was released on a console, but I have fond memories of playing Bonk on my brother’s Sega Genesis when I was a kid and later on my NES. 🙂

Harry, it’s just a 2D side-scroller that was a lot of fun back in the day.
